Lake Palace is situated in the middle of Lake Pichola on a natural foundation of 4 acers of rock founded in 1568 by Maharana Udai Singh. Jaipur ruler, Maharana of period 1628 to 1654 was on very good terms with Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and encouraged his artisan to imitate some of the his magnificence buildings at Agra. It was constructed facing east to allow sun at the break of dawn for worship Surya Devta (God of Sun). In 1743 to 1746 it is developed as a royal summer palace in the direction of Maharani of Udaipur and initially called Jagniwas or Jan Niwas after its founder. Then Bhagwat Singh decided to convert the Lake Palace into hotel as Udaipur’s first luxury hotel so it’s conserved and maintained well. This five star luxury hotel is management of Taj Group of Hotels since 1971. The Lake Palace is one of the most beautiful palaces in the world. The Lake Palace houses have 83 rooms including 17 beautiful suites and 53 deluxe rooms. The suites in the old part of the palace are coloured glass windows, cool white marble and assortment work and it attracts the eye of the viewer. It has been voted as the most romantic hotel in India.
